Agri-Food & Biosciences Institute in Belfast

Senior Engineer Dave Harris visited the Agri-Food & Biosciences Institute in Belfast last week to reinstall their old 2022 & CryoPrep so that they can run CO2 samples from the headspaces of plant/soil enclosures.

As this is ambient low volume CO2 levels, the CyroPrep can be used to trap all available CO2 (using liquid nitrogen traps) which should mean more accurate analysis.

Dave commented: “This is a method not commonly used on a CryoPrep but it is very good for the sampling of atmospheric levels of CO2. The instrument had been out of use for 3 years, so it was a busy week setting it up from scratch to meet the requirements of Lab manager Steward Floyd and Colin Roberts as well as Harry McGuiggan, who is running the CO2 analysis project.”

The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) is a leading provider of scientific research and services to government, non-governmental organisations and commercial organisations.
