Some photos from the Universiteit Gent in Belgium.

Senior Field Service & Installation Engineer Dave Harris has just returned from a repair to a HTEA unit at Universiteit Gent in Belgium.

The Isotope Bioscience Laboratory, (ISOFYS), part of the university’s Stable Isotope Facility, where the main instrument user is Katja Van Nieuwland (pictured). Katja works with Dr Samuel Bode on the instrument, and they are currently looking at 18O analysis on various samples.

The Sercon HT-EA is a high temperature EA furnace – the most robust thermal decomposition device on the market. It provides high precision 18O and 2H measurements for both solid and liquid samples. Designed with a no compromise approach to both performance and robustness, the HT-EA uses the most advanced technology to deliver high precision measurements. Find out more here: https://sercon-instruments.com/preparation-systems/ht-ea-wave/.

The lab runs a number of Sercon Instruments, including:

For bulk stable isotopic analysis in solids and liquids (15N, 13C, 18O and 34S)

  • EA-IRMS: 2022
  • HT-IRMS: 2020
  • HT-EA

For trace gas stable isotopic analysis – CO2, N2O and CH4 (15N, 13C and 18O)

  • TG-IRMS: 20-20, SerCon

We’re proud to support our instruments of all ages, anywhere across our global installation base, and offer ongoing service and training plans to suit the needs of any type of lab environment. If you’d like to talk to us about service plans for our IRMS technology, just email us, we’d love to hear from you.
