Sercon Instruments, Teledyne Photon Machines and Terra Analitic are delighted to announce the launch of www.la-irms.com.
This is the culmination of a collaboration between the three companies dating back as far as 1996. The intervening years of research and product development have resulted in the tried and tested Laser Ablation Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry technique, which eliminates the need for extensive sample preparation, allowing for high-resolution, spatially resolved isotopic analysis.
Laser Ablation Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (LA-IRMS) is now starting to transform the fields of geochemistry, environmental science, forensics, and materials research by providing unparalleled precision in direct solid sample analysis.

The collaboration combines Sercon’s IRMS equipment with Teledyne Photon Machines’ laser based instrumentation and Terra Analitic’s IsoScell bespoke sample chamber. The Terra Analitic LA IRMS lab became functional in early 2022 and started extensive testing of LA IRMS capabilities on a wide variety of matrices.
Proven data suggests that this technique can equal or better EA in precision and sensitivity without extensive sample preparation and at much higher spatial resolution.
