Liquid Autosampler in Sendai, Japan
In the second stage of his recent visit to Japan, Senior Field Service & Installation Engineer Dave Harris went to Tohoku University in Sendai.
Our customer, Prof. Yosuke Yamada, was looking forward to his new system comprising an HS2022, Aqua, VerSA, IsoEArth+, HT-EA with liquid autosampler, which he and his team plan to use in the following research fields for the Sports and Health Sciences, Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise and Graduate School of Medicine:
- Aqua; 18O & HD on water samples via equilibration method
- IsoEArth+; They want to mainly use 15N & 13C analysis via combustion looking at sediment samples and marine filtered samples. After that they will be looking into 34S (NCS) samples at some point in the future.
- HT-EA with liquid autosampler; Water analysis concentrating on HD with some 18O work.
Dave was again accompanied by Takashi Oono (manager), Motomitsu “Monty” Tsukumo (engineer) from Nippon Sanso, our long-established partners and Sales agents for Japan.
On completion, the facility threw a party in honour of Sercon and the Internation students- sushi, followed by karaoke, and then late night ramen.
In his downtime, Dave had fun visiting the Pokemon centre to buy his daughters some gifts as well as visiting the Mausoleum of Date Masamune, who was the Samurai who help establish Sendai.
