South Dakota Instrument Move

The Sercon Engineering team recently undertook an instrument move for South Dakota State University, in Brookings SD.

Senior Field Service & Installation Engineer Dave Harris, who set up the lab for them originally, returned to take charge of the move of existing instruments into a new laboratory for Janet Miller, who oversees usage of the instruments, a HS2022 & IsoEArth.

The research supported by the instruments focuses on agricultural testing – they look at 15N & 13C data via the solid sample combustion method. 

Weatherwise, Dave hit South Dakota just at the start of the recent snow bomb, so it was just starting to get really cold:

“There was a -20C windchill on my last day. My fingers nearly froze off while getting petrol.” In his free time he explored Brookings and nearby Sioux Falls.
