Swiss Federal Research Institute Service Visit

The Swiss Federal Research Inst. WSL in Zurich have a Sercon HS2022 and IsoEArth for C&N combustion and the Teledyne LAX-213 laser as well as a Sercon CryoFlex-LA.

Senior Field Service & Installation Engineer Dave Harris has recently completed a service job at the Institute, working with Manuela Oettli & Matthias Saurer.

Their main research application is tree ring analysis but the team from the Swiss Federal Research Institute have also been ablating bird feathers and skulls to investigate bird migration patterns between Africa & Europe. They’re the first to try such a thing and are hoping to have a paper published later this year.

While he was staying in Zurich, Dave had some time to kill in the evenings and checked out the local English stand up comedy scene – hence the photo of the guy with crazy hair!
