TRACE 2026 Rome – Tree Rings in Archaeology, Climatology and Ecology

A week on Monday will Garry Armstrong at TRACE 2026 in Rome. The annual meeting of the Association for Tree-Ring Research, TRACE brings together scientists from all corners of the tree-ring research world and is set to be a vibrant hub for collaboration and knowledge exchange.

We’ll be showcasing our Laser Ablation IRMS (LAIRMS), the result of a long term collaboration with Terra Analytic and Teledyne Photon Machines.

LA-IRMS is a high-resolution, minimally destructive analytical technique combining a laser sampling system with a mass spectrometer to measure stable isotopes directly from solids. By removing the need for chemical processing, it enables fast analysis of solid samples, such as tree rings for paleoclimatology, geological materials, and forensic samples.
