Further afield, service engineer Henry Cooke’s travels took him to the other side of the world at the end of 2024, to work on a PDZ Europa 20-22, GSL, TGII for Roger Cresswell of the Department of Soil and Physical Sciences at Lincoln University in New Zealand, which focuses its research on agricultural and life sciences.

The purpose of the service visit was to increase the accuracy of standards and samples using this very old piece of equipment, which is still working well despite its age.

With more recent experience working across Europe, Henry found the time zones and jet lag a bit of a challenge to start with, but arranged to use some annual leave at the end of the trip, which he used driving around New Zealand’s South Island in his spare time, seeing many beautiful sights. Staying in Christchurch, he also visited Tekapo, Wanaka, Queenstown and Oamaru.
