Not a Solo Sport!
Before heading out to Romania for TRACE2024, Sercon’s Garry Armstrong was ‘encouraged’ to compete in England’s Strongest Master competition by our sponsored amateur strongman Matty Franklin.
Matty was on the support crew for the competition, held at Bishop Auckland Football Club, and as an honorary part of the Sercon team, doubled up supporting Garry on the day, real teamwork.
Did Garry enjoy it? “The truck pull in particular was a really tough event, and it reminded me that while being a strongman looks like a solo sport, it is nothing of the kind. Without trainers and fellow competitors lending support and backup it would be a lot less fun. In this sport, ‘competitors’ is a bit of a misnomer – we tend to compete against our own personal goals and PB’s, and our ‘competitors’ are more often to be found collaborating to help each other achieve that.”
