Upgrading mid 1990’s EA-IRMS
It’s always useful to understand how customers view what you see as core benefits and strong customer service.
We already knew that our customers appreciate the backwards compatibility of all Sercon instruments but wanted to get a more detailed understanding of the importance of supporting upgrades to existing equipment –hardware and in this instance software too.
Debbie Allen from Aberystwyth University, whose field is agricultural research in the Faculty of Earth and Life Sciences, talks about a recent upgrade of their mid 1990’s EA-IRMS:
“An electronics upgrade was required to help the older instrument communicate with newer operating software to address communications between our IRMS and computer, which had become more acute as our computer was replaced with one running the latest operating system.”
“While the upgrade quickly became a necessity, the Sercon team were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. As soon as we had secured funding, we were able to agree a mutually suitable date and get the upgrade completed.”
“I’m delighted to say the upgrade was transformational! The system is old (mid 1990’s) and had limped along for a while. With the current financial climate here and at so many universities, there is no question of funding being available for a new system so it is vital for us and our ongoing research that the systems we have in place can be maintained and upgraded to the latest specifications.”
“It is vital to us that our (elderly) instrument is still able to be maintained and upgraded where and when necessary to the latest specifications. You lot are the best!”
